No matter how many times I visit Yosemite, I always feel the same sense of awe when looking up from the valley floor at the cascading waterfalls and giant granite walls towering overhead. I'm not sure why it had taken me so long to decide to hike the famous monolith, but this year for the first time I finally summited Half Dome. For anyone considering this hike, I recommend getting a wilderness permit and camping in Little Yosemite the night before. Breaking up the hike leaves you less exhausted and allows you more time to enjoy the incredible views along the way.
